Note from a very wise mother (chuckle)...before gift wrapping a child's gift it is imperative that you remove all tags, wires and other securing devices because you and the anxious child will go nuts on Christmas morning/birthdays waiting for the annoying removal process! If you do this before wrapping you can remove it in peace with all the freedom in the world to throw the box at the wall, swear in Eurozimbab as you break your nail or cut your finger in the process, but Christmas day you will just get to see them tear it freely out of the box without any stress. Just joy.
Peter: Has eclectic tastes. He teaches, takes photos, and repairs the homestead place in its entirety. He somehow knows everything about history, politics, 20th century warfare, and cameras...especially cameras. If you need photos taken or want some spectacular art to hang on your walls, see his websites above.
Claire: Really likes her husband and family, which is good, because she spends a lot of time with them. She used to do reading and writing and cooking and stuff before the newest member of the family arrived (see below). Now, she calls the day a happy one when she has her outfit on by noon and knows what's for dinner no later than 6:30. Check back for personality updates.
Ingrid: Our sweet, precocious eight-year-old. Good ideas grow on trees in Inge's room. She is a conscientious, absent-minded, sensitive, oblivious, impulsive, thoughtful, responsible (for ten minutes at a time), artistic, enthusiastic, loving outdoorswoman. She is also an ardent saver of scraps and useless things, which I suppose makes her an optimist.
Lewis: Our six year old guy, although he is sized more like an eight year old guy. In addition to possessing a unique creative genius for making radio noises--it's an obvious future career--he can draw (sharks, helicopters), can construct (cars, helicopters, motorcycles, siege engines), and has a tender spot for all purchasable things. He rises early, walks thunderously, and takes out the garbage for his mom.
Michelle, AKA Nelly, is (at nearly five years old) both our girliest and our most alarming girl. She has survived two surgeries, a broken arm, and nine stitches over the course of her bouncy little life; but makeup, dressup, and all things fashionable are (surprisingly) her expertise of choice. She shows creative talent for putting together an outfit, has taught herself to read in ten easy lessons, and is invariably up for having her nails painted. She also loves "dessuurt."
Claire Simone is almost three. Her personality sketch, and that of our latest addition, Little Pete, will be up soon...
