Inge, just outside the bathroom door: Lewis, I can do a graceful twirl.
Lewis: What?
Inge: I can do a graceful twirl. Watch this.
Lewis: What?
Inge: A graceful twirl!
Lewis: WHAT?
Inge: A GRACEFUL TWIRL!

First thing in the morning, coupla days ago:

Peter, still lying in bed, offers some words of advice in the direction of the children's room, with Inge as the intended recipient. Silence ensues.

Peter: Say, "Yes, Sir."
Lewis: Yes, Sir.
Peter: Inge, say, "Yes, Sir."
Lewis: Yes, Sir.
Peter: INGE!
Inge, sotto voce: Yes, Sir.
Peter: Say it so I can hear you!
Lewis and Michelle in chorus: YES, SIR!
