I don't think I posted any Inge pictures in the other day. So here's a mid-week surprise for you.

Kubuntu Post

Here are a few pictures from this week. Since I've used most of the subject lines more than once already I just thought I'd post the subject line above. I'm posting from my Linux OS Kubuntu (ubuntu with KDE desktop). Works fine. Maybe still a little more work than XP, but amazingly good for a free OS. ***Please note--I've added a link to Kubuntu in case the above is gibberish, also OS stands for "Operating System."***

Michelle's Surgery

Below is the Email I sent out to our church earlier today. Please be praying with us. Thank you!

Greetings,

The Roises would like you all to pray for us and our daughter Michelle (11 months old) as we prepare for a surgery on her cleft soft palate, that is scheduled for May 3rd. The procedure is necessary to make sure she will be able to speak properly, and is not exceptionally dangerous, but does involve monitoring in ICU after the surgery for one or two nights because of the potential for airway obstruction due to swelling. Once she comes home we will have to protect the area at the back of her throat that has been operated on--the area is rather fragile at first. This means no solid foods and keeping things out of a toddler's mouth (it'll be easy...yeah right).
Specific things to pray for, please:

1. That the surgery would go well and heal quickly.
2. That Michelle would handle everything well, herself.
3. That we will be able to effectively protect the area after the surgery.
4. That God would help us to trust Him through a scary circumstance.

The kids are getting pretty good at clearing the table. As long as you don't mind the salt and pepper in the refrigerator and the uncovered apple sauce in the cupboard.

The sideways felt hat with polka-dots and stripes (not pictured)--it's all the rage.

A new phone design for short people and phones that are mounted high-- the cord comes out of the ear piece rather than the mouth piece.

The yogurt moustache is a skin treatment and a fashion statement all in one.

Not unexpectedly, the men's fashions are less daring. The conservative striped polo is well accented by the wild tufting hair in back.

Ingrid has also entered the field of urban architectural design.

To Pray Without Ceasing

Inge's nightly prayers have been getting longer. We enjoy this very much. She's developed a thankful little heart, and generally thanks God for many things before she starts asking for stuff. The petitionary section has expanded in like measure, though; two nights ago she prayed for (I'm pretty sure) everyone in the world, under one heading or another. She prayed for children without parents, that God would protect them; for parents, especially bad ones, that they would take care of their children; for the foolish, that they would be made righteous; for all who have died, that they would be resurrected and made righteous, too; for all who are sick or suffering; and for enough other things that it filled up about five minutes. Her closing comments stemmed from Peter's request that she would pray for this season of Lent, and they began like this:

"Heavenly Father, we pray for this lentil..."

Last night she showed no signs of stopping at all, until interrupted by her dad.

"And we pray that if Namma comes--which we hope she will...what?"

Having received instructions to wrap it up soon, she resumed, showing every inclination to touch on another ten topics or so before finishing.

"And...and...and...we pray that Namma and Tappa will have a safe trip. And we pray for..."

Here, because Michelle was also praying loudly for her bottle, Daddy meaningfully inserted, "In Jesus' name," and with some reluctance, Inge brought her petitions to a close.

Apt to Study Arguments

Today I had occasion to tell Inge it behooves her to repent after having lied because it's a bad deal when God is angry with you.

Whereat the small doctrinaire pointed out something I had, perhaps, missed: She doesn't have to worry too much (the implication ran) because "God is slow to anger." See?

Noticing that he seemed to be having trouble expressing himself, I helpfully supplied him with the words he needed:

"You mean, are their gone?"
